We have the necessary medical and health care professionals right here at our disposal. We have doctors, nurses, pharmacists, biologists and other scientists right here at Inkundla. Now instead of us wasting their talents by utilising them to define such useless (but useful) issues like "umtshaza" , "inkophe", "inzipho", "amasendlisi" "umsundulo" and the like, I hereby suggest that we have an online health-care facility where we can field questions to them relating to serious medical and health problems that our people encounter daily.

For a start, we have Mthwakazians in the rural areas who suffer from all manner of illnesses, from head aches to diarrhea to malnutrition to dingindi to kwarshiokor to drops to syphilis to gonorrhea to mhedehede etc etc.

Now my proposal is that whosoever has a health problem (or his family back home), can ask our professionals like Dokotela , Mabila and others to answer and advise on such issues. What medication to buy, what diet to eat for those with obesity problems, what exercises to do for fitness enthusiats, what to do when you get infected with drop, what about bilharzia or malaria, what do you do when someone is suffering from meningitis, what about the endless illnesses that affect our kids.
One must emphasise that the information given here will be given in good faith and whosoever uses it does so at their own risk.

To kick start the whole process, let me set the ball rolling by asking our health professionals to give us a typical Mthwakazian diet which we can follow to stay health, no cholestrol, fat etc. What exercises to follow for those of us who spend too much time in the office with very little physical activity.

In response to your proposal brother Lobs, i have the same sentiments of sharing and helping my mthwakazians in their health related problems in this forum freely.

I will make efforts to answer your questions clearly and as simple as posible. I wish this provision not to be abused by anyone of us, but be used to benefit the Mthwakazi people.

Because this thread is for our healthcare issues, I will be very brief in my answer to your concern above. Firstly I acknowledge and respect your views relating to "izitho zomzimba" and their description in Ndebele. One must also further acknowledge that as a medical and healthcare professional discussing these features is just part and parcel of your profession hence acceptable. But my feeling is that culturally, our sociatal norms have taught us that these issues be "respected" and be regarded as taboo particularly for younger persons. Taboo in the sense that our youth must never engage in any activity that combines these two poles and generate heat in the process leading to loss of libido (idobi?) nk nk.
Iam merely emphasising the cultural aspect to this issue.
because we are now educated does not mean we should forego or discard our cultural value systems. Look at the Middle East, because of their strong laws prohibiting promiscuity and adultry (ukweqa uthango) which carries a possible death sentence, HIV-AIDS is virtually unknown there.
Now, because through education we learn that in Korea for example they eat dogs and cats as a delicacy, it does not necessarily mean we must now have a cartblanche wanton slaughter of our pets and start braaing them. The Japanese have embraced education but maintained their culture. The Chinese have done the same. We learn from tales that in the DRC the Kasayis eat fellow human beings, that does not mean all of a sudden Lobengula must eat Mabila!!!!! nk nk nk. Not that I can't eat you( look at my picture >>lion!!!), no, but i must not do so only just because I have learnt this from "education". I must preserve my culture.

- Reduce iMargarine, and fat from inyama.
- Inhlanzi ziright.
- Reduce itswayi - liya ngezelela amanani ehypertension.
- Uzelule umzimba, wenze ama exersices.
- Ungabhemi igwayi kumbe insango.

Further diet tips:

Replace all FANTA drinks with plain water. Carbonated drinks have no food value. Kuhle khona ukunatha up to 2L of water ngelanga. Hatshi i beer, plain manzi.

Eat at least 3 fruits ngelanga and keep the doctor away. Nanka awile ama orange eGwana. Nice.

Eat lots of vegetables carrots, beets, cucumber, tshomoliya, cabbage, brocolli, mathanga. Umganu wakho kawube colourful with greens, yellows, whites etc uyabe usudla kuhle ngempela.

Lingabi legunya bo Baba nxa liphiwa imiganu yokudla eqongileyo lithi yikho ukuba ngubaba womuzi, kulesifo lokhuya. Dlanini okulingeneyo and even demand smaller size plates.

Ukuhlafuna controls the amount of food we eat. Chew everything thoroughly loba kumnandi. Ingqondo gets the message that isihlafune kakhulu and sends a feedback message yokusutha.

Nxa usizwa angani awusuthanga, ungagijimeli ukwengezelela khonokho khonokho ukuthi usuthe uthi nsti, give yourself 30 minutes. If you are still hungry then, eat some more.

Dieting alone does not help. To yield desired results kakube le change in lifestyle.
