Hope this will bless you

And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Luke 6:20-22 KJV

But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1 Timothy 6:11-14 KJV

First African Bible commentary launched

July 08, 2006, 08:15

The first Bible commentary written exclusively by African theologians has been launched in Kenya. The 1 600 page volume, called Africa Bible Commentary has been written exclusively by African theologians from 25 countries, and aims to explain the Bible from an African perspective.

Evangelists, scholars and politicians who included Daniel Arap Moi, the former Kenyan president, graced the modest ceremony where the historic commentary was launched. In a triumphant mood, Tokunboh Adeyemo, the commentary editor, declared, "we have landed". The effort to write the commentary faced multiple distractions, he said, but the finished job a literary milestone.

The commentary contains local proverbs and folk lore to help interpret the scriptures. It also addresses contemporary issues such as HIV/Aids, female genital mutilation, refugees, ethnic conflict and witchcraft.

Spiritual awakening
The commentary is published by the Evangelical publisher Zondervan. Adeyemo says the commentary seeks to end ignorance over Biblical content and to ignite spiritual awakening among Africans.

Writers of the commentary asked Africans to be to be faithful to their own cultures as well as the Bible. Arap Moi said the book is a rare victory for Africa, a continent whose story has always been written by outsiders.

Just a reminder to the believers of Christ!!

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Colossians 3:8-11 KJV

Zwide, Amen
Because he lives, we can face tomorrow with no fear,
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7 KJV

Pressing on torward the GOAL!!!

Not that i have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but i press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers i do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing i do: Forgeting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on torward the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philipians 3 vs 12-14 (NIV)

Asitshelaneni iqiniso bakwethu, imithandazo le iyanceda na ukuthi umuntu angahlaselwa ngabathakathi kumbe imimoya emibi. Why is it that abantu bonabo aba committed kundaba zenkolo, yibo abadubekayo kakhulu, njalo abahlaselwa kakhulu kuthi abaphila njengaba hedeni bahlezi sharp?

Is the devotional necessary? In other words, if God would have been fair, loving, why would he allow all the bad things to happen to his people?

Dok, while I have a similar question, I differ lawe kancane, I don't think it's true ukuthi abantu abakholwayo bayahlupheka okudlula abahedeni. When I look at it objectively kimi bayafanana.Ungaya ku community yabakholwayo kukhona abayanga, izimpantsha, iziyelele le imbesalisi, abapasayo esikolo, labafeyilayo etc, same applies ku-community zabahedeni.
Where I have a question similar to yours it's on the difference which prayer can make empilweni yomuntu. I have lived lapha emhlabeni okweminyaka ethile and nxa ngizama ukuba - practical ngempilo iqiniso engiphuma lalo yikuthi ukuphumelela kweyeme kakhulu ku-determination, diligence, vigilence & tenacity of purpose. At the same time kulezinto which I believe ziyisipho (in born qualities), which one can capitalise on. Lezi zipho are not uniform to every person & each persons abilities & potential are difined basing on those.
May be it's not for everybody ukuthi when you pray things automatically move neither can we say those who do not pray will live "dummy" lives of failure.

Dokotela remember isahluko lesi ngesabantu abafuna ukukhuthazana kwezokholo hatshi thina "onompembe", abamlomo kayihlwampukane, hk hk hk hk hk, akwekele abantu benze into zabo, hk hk hk hk hk.

As for me I dont think there is a need for one to posses material things so that they can be identified as christians. These are things that come come along on your Christian walk.
The main thing is is peace and happiness in your heart. There are very rich people who can't even sleep because there is no love or peace in their homes. Some people even live on houses that still havent been paid for or even posh cars that they are even struggling to pay because of credit cards and loans.

Its not about material posession but love, joy and peace on your heart.

Well Dok ..iqiniso yikuthi imikhuleko iyasebenza .. the belief in the Mighty Power gives you a better edge on everything Research has been done on sick people and the power of prayer....

However knowing that there is someone(GOD to some People) who is there to take care of your problems gives you a positive attitude and that helps healthwise mentally and spiritually ..avoiding depression and feeling of helplesness... therefore affecting your immunity and fight ....to any challenges ...

I got this thruh some link here ..

Casting All Your Cares
Therefore humble yourselves...casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
?1 Peter 5:6,7

Worry, anxiety, and care have no positive effect on our lives. They do not bring a solution to problems. They do not help us achieve good health, and they prevent our growth in the Word of God.

One of the ways that Satan steals the Word of God from our heart is through cares. The Bible says we are to cast our cares onto God, which is done by prayer. We cannot handle our own problems; we are not built for it. We are created by God to be dependent upon Him, to bring Him our challenges and to allow Him to help us with them.

We must not take the care upon ourselves. Keeping our cares is a manifestation of pride. It shows that we think we can solve our own problems and that we don't need the Lord.

We show our humility by leaning on God. Worry, anxiety, and care are not manifestations of leaning on God, but they clearly state by their mere existence that we are attempting to take care of ourselves.

Pray about everything and worry about nothing. You will enjoy life much more.

Pray This:
"Father, show me each time I take a care instead of casting it. Then I will immediately cast it on You. In Jesus' name, amen."

Amen Zwide, Ngivumelana lawe!
There is a difference in the quality of lives of a christian and a non-believer.
"Plz read Hebrews 11, the whole chapter."

As a christian I believe there is always a positive approach and hope into daily struggles. Kulomehluko vele nxa uthandaza ngoba you have faith that there is an Almighty God listening to your every prayer, and believe me you after you have prayed about something to God almighty sincerely, you get the results.
Njalo uphila impilo yakho based on God's word and applying it in all areas of your life. For example "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. Ephesians 5:25-28 KJV "
I am aware that noone is perfect and just like Paul, we all press towards the wiining prize.

Casting All Your Cares
worry, anxiety, and care have no positive effect on our lives. They do not bring a solution to problems. They do not help us achieve good health, [/]

Will I be correct if from what you saying I summarise it as follows: Among all other factors, one's happiness, peace and success depend on the mind set, and one factor that can enable humans to view life positively and achieve these three is belief/faith as it eliminates a condition of "despondancy", substituting it with "hope".

So in other words its all meant to tune the mind on how to view life's situations in the interest of stabilising a person emotionally, for the sake of peace, happiness and joy?

Its not about tuning your mind to think positively, I'm sorry you will have to forgive me because I can't remember the verse exactly but can those who know it help, but it says something like this, "Its not by power nor by might but by the Spirit (of God) ".

As a born again Christian I understand that this means its not about man trying to use his mind or his effort to achieve something that they want but can only be achieved by allowing the Holy Spirit into the heart and leading the way.

No matter how much you might try to think positively you will remain the same but once you allow the Holy Spirit into your heart that is when you will feel and see the difference and this might even open doors where you never expected.

From the question that was asked by Dok I wanted to tell that its not the material posessions that make life enjoyable but its what's in your heart that determines the how you find life not on your mind.

Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

A little that a righteous man hath [is] better than the riches of many wicked.

I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen
the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

Psa 37:36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he [was] not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
But the salvation of the righteous [is] of the LORD: [he is] their strength in the time of trouble.

Psa 37:40 And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

bretheren be encouraged by these verses from psalms ,udokotela simxolele umfowethu singalandela imilayo kaThixo yonke siphile impilo eqotho uNkulunkulu uthembekile kasoze noma nini asekele silamba kodwa singenza ama short cut sizenza labodokotela babone ingazani akusizi ukumkhonza uThixo , mina kulamajaha engafunda lawo kudala bemthanda uThixo bekubo SU sibahleka esikolo but i meet them now those that stuck to the gospel are doing well in life but mina i thank God ngisawadla amabele but amadoda engangidlala lawo inengi selatshona kwakumnandi but ngingakhumbula abafowethu abangitshiyileyo ngikhangele lamajaha alokhe ephethe ivangeli since ngise secondary school , i have seen their wisdom , and i am so grateful Jesus saved my life , ukuthi echurch abantu abaswelayo bayatholakala its true but akusiThixo obenza babengabayanga

Blessed be our Lord!

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6-7 KJV

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:1-5 KJV

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:8-13 KJV

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. bakwethu i have one or two things engizifundisiweyo ngezwi leNkosi that i want to share with you, uThixo uthi ask and it shall be given to you ,seek and you shall find ,knock and it shall be opened , ukucela we do not beg ethareni but we ask from Him ngomthandazo then the part eqakathekileyo yileyi what does Jesus mean when he says seek , can i seek for a job from God , or ask for a business loan from Him ,no i do not He does His part when i ask He is merciful and He promised that i shall propsper so odingayo yimi kufuze ngikhuthale ekudingeni , i must seek and knock doors will be opened if i do not knock ngibe lama butter fingers i can pray all i want but i will say God does not reward/answer prayers , so bakithi lets pray without seizing , then seek also and knock iminyango izavulwa and we will see the favour of God in our lives (Matt7v7; Luke11v9; John15v7 )

love is the only way..

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. Luke 10:25-28 KJV

By this shall all men know you are my disciples if you haved loved one another.

Ngitsheleni zihlobo ezithandekayo, is there validity in "silent prayer"? Angikaze ngiyibone ebhayibhilini - maybe i did not look thorough enough, kodwa i'm obliged to think ukuthi there is a power in "spoken word", therefore a "silent prayer" is not only unbiblical but powerless.

This applies to statements like "Uthixo uncedisa ozincedayo", which i also found unbiblical and contrary to the truth that, we have to confess that Jesus is Lord and we cannot help ourselves, but He can save us from sin.

okunye engikufundileyo bakithi ngilichathekele lani liye zidla(meditate) ngakho ngiyazi ngobunengi bethu umtshado siyawuthanda njalo wonke umuntu from the bottom of their hearts they each want the best marriage but alas kucina sekulama divorce which is the most painfull thing you can endure usaphila because the bible says lingatshada you become one flesh imagine somebody ekudabula ihlombe uhamba, then bambuza uJesu ukuthi is it ok for a man to divorce to divorce your wife for any reason underline for any reason, uJesu waphendula wathi becuase of the hardness of your hearts Moses allowed you to divorce your wifes but it was not like that in the beginning, ngokuba lukhuni kwenhliziyo zethu thina amadoda or in this case amajuda ayelenhliziyo ezilukhuni uMose wabavumela idivorce but uJesu uthi it was not like that in the beginning so divorce was not allowed originally and Jesus said only umfazi kumbe indoda ingafohla uthango can any two seperate abafundi bakhe bathi hatshi nxa kunjalo kengcono bona bahle bangagani ngoba umlayo kaJesu lowawunzima , they could not imagine themselves living with one woman for all their lives bengaxotshanga women had zero rights in those days wayethi engatshisa isitshebi nje umtshayise indlela , what then is the solution to this problem is marriage doomed as the disciples thought and said , lathi futhi kathesi sikhuluma njengabafundi , asixoxeni bakithi ukuthi lithini izwi leNkosi ngomtshado ,ikakhulu idivorce and ukuthi silukhutha ngaphi ugatsha kule indikimba(Matt19v3/9;mark10v11;1Cor7v11)

As far as i know my bible, the only divorce permitted is when a fornication or adultery scandal is involved. I can give you the reference if you want one.

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Isaiah 55:1-2 KJV

In the parable of two men who went to pray in the Temple one stood there and shouted his prayers and the other was there humble quitely said his prayers......(Although the point was humility in this parable but it also brought a small sub-plot to the issue of types of prayers) there are times when its called for to speak your prayer out loud and there are situations where a silent prayer is good enough......

i believe a prayer is a way of communicating with God and we do not only communicate through speaking to a person or to God, we can also communicate without saying a word. we can not not communicate.

When Jesus told the parable of the Pharisee and the publican, He said, " The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as his publican (tax collector). I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all I posess" Luke 18:11-12 The reason the Lord Jesus condemned the actions of the Pharisee was because it was done in the flesh, led by pride and tradition

However, the poor publican juss said a simple prayer" Dear Lord, have mercy on me for I am a sinner" and was forgiven. God sees the heart and rewards wat is done in secret and with sincererity. Lets come to his throne with a humble heart.

If God can read the mind and thots of a person, don't you think ukuthi He can as well understand a prayer said silently. Also in life there are situations where you will want/need to pray but find that it is not conducive to do it loudly, eg when you are in public, say ebhasini, or in an examination room, I think God will listen and answer a silent prayer. Though I strongly agree with you that there is power in the spoken word especially where you have to profess your beliefs.

Yebo wona umthandazo uyazisa kuye okholwa kiwo.

Kodwa ukuthi bengingasizwa yikulala ngikhangele kangivumi. Abanye abantwana bebefika bekhaliphile esikolo mina ngifike ngiwozela ngilobuthongo ngenxa yokulala ngibangelwa umsindo ebusuku!

Uyatsho umbhalo oyingcwele ukuthi UNkulunkulu usiza abazisizayo.

If you succumb to interpreting the Bible word for word you will end up getting up at 12 midnight and praying without consideration for others!

Read Psalms 37:40.

Is it not obvious that by obeying nature and getting at least 8 hours none stop sleep one is putting their trust in GOD, in this context?

Furthermore in Exodus 14:15 "And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:"

[]Read Psalms 37:40.

[:"red"] Amahubo 37 vesi 40, ithi yona "He helps them and rescues them; he saves them from the wicked, because they go to him for protection" This sounds different from ukuthi "uNkulunkulu usiza ozincedayo" [/]

Is it not obvious that by obeying nature and getting at least 8 hours none stop sleep one is putting their trust in GOD, in this context?
[:"red"] I don't think so because even them that do not ear God will go to sleep.[/]

Bengibhale ngathi "UNkulunkulu usiza abazisizayo", kangizange ngithi [:"red"]"uNkulunkulu usiza ozincedayo"[/].

Amahubo 37 vesi 40 athi wona "UJehova uyabasiza abakhulule; abakhulule kwababi abasindise, ngokuba baphephela kuye."

Ngicela ubuyele emuva ufunde ukuthi bengivele ngiphendula uMabila othe ezifundweni ngingabe ngasizwa yimikhuleko le phakathi kobusuku, hatshi ekuseni njengokwakusenziwa nguJesu labanengi.

Mina ngithi CHA, ukukhulekela phezulu lokhu kwakubangela ukuthi ngivuke ngilobuthngo ngenxa yokungalali ngemfanelo njengalokhu esakudalelwa nguMvelinqangi yena owaphinde wathi imizimba yethu ilithempeli lakhe!

akuzange kukhanye kungisiza mina ukukhulekela phezulu phakathi kobusuku ngoba ngalezonsuku ngangihlala ngingatholi imiklomelo ebukekayo kumazamanitshini!

Ukukhulekela phezulu lokhu phakathi kobusuku kwakungibuyisela emuva nxa ngisezifundweni kuphela, akukho okunye.

Ngakho ukuhlonipha imithetho yemvelo lomdabuko, ukudla ngemfanelo yikuphephela kuye njalo yikuzisiza (holistic approach to spirituality).

The word of God says study the word to shew yourself approved. Lets not manipulate the WORD of God to suit ourselves.
Think about it guys, we cant just decide to add and remove what suits us from the word of God

Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day: And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. Isaiah 58:9-12 KJV
