Purpose of the job The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the testing of in-process and final product samples from all Polythene plants according to standard laboratory techniques and procedures, the reporting of results and the safe operation of all laboratory equipment by his team of Analysts.
Job specification
Specific experience required
? Up to 8 years experience in a chemical laboratory environment
? Practical experience in polymer analyses and the operation of polymer testing equipment would be an advantage.
Required outputs: Functional
? Evaluate control samples to ensure equipment and test methods are in statistical control.
? Ensure that all laboratory equipment is operated in compliance with relevant work instruction, test method and SHE procedures.
? Ensure results produced by the Analysts are accurate and reproducible.
? Evaluate in-process and batch results and take corrective / preventive action when necessary.
? Ensure compliance to work instructions, test methods and equipment operating procedures.
? Report product data on system provided (SAP, DCS, etc.)
? Classify and release product on SAP
? Manage daily tasks / outputs of the Analysts.
? Communicate effectively with Analysts and Laboratory Management.
Required outputs: Functional (continued)
? Identify technical problems and deviations and report these to Laboratory Management.
? Performing trouble shooting on equipment and results deviation.
? Manage attendance, training and performance of shift members
? Ensure 90% equipment availability through identification of preventative maintenance and co-ordination of maintenance
? Effective communication with customers i.e. production plants, working as a team to resolve problems
? Strong leadership skills, creating a growing / developing environment for team members
Qualifications and expertise required (Must)
? Grade 12 with Maths and Science
? Relevant three year Diploma (NQF Level 5)
General
? Incumbent will work 12 hour shifts
