BARELY a week after Botswana was reported to have threatened unspecified action on Zimbabwe, reports coming from that country say troops have been deployed to the Botswana?Zimbabwe border to repel any military attack that might erupt due to the political unrest and tension prevailing in Zimbabwe.

A report published by Botswana?s Sunday Standard said that Tswana troops had been deployed to the border area ?with heavy artillery?.

Botswana?s minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Brigadier Dikgakgamatso Seretse, was quoted as saying, ?This is a very sensitive matter, therefore, I can neither confirm nor deny any deployment of soldiers along the Zimbabwe-Botswana border.?

Botswana last week was reported to have issued ?threatening? statements saying they would take unspecified action if the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) and the African Union do not condemn President Robert Mugabe?s government.

The Botswana Congress Party urged Sadc to assess the feasibility of using extra-diplomatic tactics to force President Robert Mugabe to step down.

Bloomberg, in a report published on its website last week, alleged that President Lt Gen Ian Khama was planning to act unilaterally against the Zimbabwean government if the AU and Sadc do not produce ?satisfactory? outcomes.

The Office of the Botswana President on Thursday issued a press statement rebutting ?the content contained in an article published by Bloomberg news service under the provocative headline: Botswana Threatens to take action in Zimbabwe Political crisis.?

The statement made it unequivocally clear that it is not the policy of Botswana to threaten any other member of the international community.

?The President, in fact, indicated that Botswana was, for its part, prepared to continue to make its own modest contribution to wider mediation efforts,? said Botswana government spokesperson, Jeff Ramsay.

?Botswana has been engaged in discussions with officials from Zimbabwe and other stakeholders in an ongoing effort to achieve greater understanding,? he continued.

Kuyahleki lokhu what army are they talking about?? Is it a capable army or its just for publicity reasons?? iBotswana madoda, I guess someone should warn these Tswanas before they die for what they do not know. A strong UN peace keeping force is needed not a few Tswanas. Remember the Botswana army has 9000 members and Mugabe managed to send 8500 strong men to DRC and his army has 33000 active members and some 10000 para military and reserve force. This should just be a warning to Khama and his men

Thank you for ukungikhumbuza kodwa present the facts, mina what I wrote, I got it from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_active_troops

Yah Tswanas have been training angazi lobani BUT the question is are they prepared to die for a lost cause?? Remember they were wacked by Namibia less than 10 years ago.

The Americanos I guess have a full plate kibo, they are failing to beat up the Pakistanis and Iraqis who are using primitive resources so asazi. Maybe we will witness another Vietnum. Statistics show that 43% of people in Zimbabwe are for the rigging party so asazi..

Is war the solution I wonder......
Ungakunanzelelisisa empini kufa the innocent people, umkhulu wami osekhaya koskhobokhobo nguye ozathwala nzima, even these peace keepers that Tswangirayi is advocating for, they will go there and do what the Gukurahundis did, raping of our sisters, gogs and mothers. What are they doing in all countries where they are posted. Kumele abantu becabangisise not ukuthi coz they are just arm chair activist begijimele ukuwawatha
