Two Djs, going by the name Funkademics, have released a seven-track album titled Bosso Anthems in honour of Highlanders Football Club.
The album was recorded at Amabeats studios in the high density suburb of Nketa.
In an interview, Dj Witt said that they made the disc with approval from Bosso officials whom they approached with a demo of their album.
"We approached Bosso manager Emmett Ndlovu and told him that we wanted to record some Bosso anthems and come up with an album that would be branded for the team and he gave us the go-ahead," said Dj Witt.
Dj Witt said the reason for coming up with such a project was that Highlanders is a big team and should be treated as such.
The vocalists on the album are Mjoks from kwaito outfit Street Niggas,Thungamelani Siziba and Fortune Moyo. Dj Function does the mixing.
Dj Witt penned track number four titled Always on top and track number six titled sohlala sikhumbula.
"Sohlala sikhumbula is dedicated to yester-year players who passed away over the years. Their contribution to the team deserves mention and the song is meant to show that we as supporters still remember them," said Dj Witt.
In the songs great players like the late Mercedes Sibanda, Benjamin Nkonjera, Titus Majola and Aram Tshuma are mentioned.
The rest of the songs are traditional Highlanders songs popular with fans mostly at the Soweto stand including Ayeza, Ayisozibulawe and High High!
Dj Witt said it is their hope to make sales out of the project and the proceeds will go towards reviving the club's junior policy.
"We have always believed that the junior policy forms a pillar in the team's strength and we hope that the proceeds will go a long way in reviving the junior policy," said Dj Witt.
Besides the Bosso project the group is working on a house album due for release soon.
"The album is titled Club 24/7 label 1. We are putting final touches on it and it will be released before the end of this year," said the twenty six year old Dj Witt
