Dekezi Secondary School

The school was opened in 1981. It is under the authority of Insiza Rural District Council. It is located south east of Filabusi along Avoca Road.

Pupil Enrolment

The school has a large catchment area of 7 primary schools. Enrolment has continued to rise steadily since 1984, at which period threr were 315 pupils. Presently, there are 482 pupils distributed as follows.

 Classrooms

 The school structures are complete up to phase 6. There are 10 ordinary classrooms for 12 classes; 2 science laboratories; 2 woodwork shops; 2 Home Economics rooms and a Geography room. Due to shortage of classrooms, the Geography room and the Home Economics rooms are being used as ordinary classrooms. The laboratories are fully furnished. Furnishing of the Home Economics rooms is still incomplete, while the Geography room is not furnished at all.

A building fund of $50-00 per family per year is also payable to cater for any needs in buildings.

A proposal to introduce a development levy of $100 - 00 per student per term is still yet to be finalised. If finalised positively, the school will purchase science equipment  to enable for teaching of physical science and biology as separate subjects.
