Hlangabeza is relatively a new school. It is owned by the Nkayi Rural District Council. It has a strong PTA and also enjoys the support of a strong District Developmemnt Association. It has been offering sixth form studies, in the humanities since January 1995. Through the efforts of the PTA and the DA, Hlangabeza opened its doors to the first crop of full science students in 1997, but it offers Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. The school is unable to Physics due to financial constraints.

 The Parents and the association have had to put up all existing structures with athird of the cost being borne by the central government. They are currently putting up dormotories for sixth form students, and naturally their funds are stretched to the limit. However, they are committed to the proper teaching of science at the school and to that end the PTA / District Development are prepared to put aside $30 000-00 per year towards science education.
