Secondary School
School background The school is a Council Day School established in 1984. It is located 68km to the east of Beit-Bridge township in the Chasvingo Rural area, and caters for at least five feeder primary schools. The shool currently has an enrolment of 226 pupils - ie 2 Form 1 classes, 2 Form 2 classes, 1 Form 3 and 1 Form 4 classes. The staff members are all qualified consisting of 6 male and 2 lady teachers. Existing Infrastructure The school has 8 classrooms and 6 of them are in use. One is where the woodwork benches are stored and the eighth is used as a school library. There are 10 pupil squatting hole toilets and 4 for staff members. There is an agriculture unit, an Administartion Block and a laboratory which has been completed but lacks equipment for it to be fully utilised. The laboratory has pupils' desks and stools only. There also 6 F14 teachers' houses and the seventh house and a toilet are still under construction. Community status The community consists of subsistence farmers who are poor and mainly rely on drought relief food due to shortage of rain. The community is determined to educate their children. They sell their livestock to get money for fees and levies charged at school. Even though the majority of pupils' fees is paid through S.D.F., they pay the SDC levy of $50-00nbper pupil per term charged at school. With the school fees and levies increased, the school hopes to upgrade the teaching standards and pass rate by buying enough text books for pupils and also complete some structures under construction and finally complete the laboratory in order for pupils to be able to take up science at "A" level.
