Tahangana Secondary School - (Mat. South)
Tahangana Secondary School is a school under Bulilimamangwe Rural District Council. It was constructed in 1981 and is 50 kms south of Plumtree along border road. At the moment it is made up of 4 blocks of classrooms, one administration block and one wing of the laboratory. The laboratory was recently completed but at the moment has no fittings and is used as an ordinary classroom.

Although the first five blocks were built through the Building Grant-in-Aid from the government, the funds ran out when the laboratory wing was at window level. The community then raised its levy which was Z$60-00 per family per child to Z$100-00 per child per year. With this the parents managed to pay for the purchase of the roof and completed laboratory. However the floor was badly done and requires re-doing.

To enable the school to teach science in the existing laboratory wing, the following needs to be put in place:-

  • Shelving
  • Water adn gas Piping
  • Laboratory Tables and stools
  • Equipment
 To see the project through, the parents have agreed to levy each other Z$100-00 per child per term with effect from 01/01/1998. So in effect the upgrading of the laboratory beyond a classroom state should have commenced in 1998. Any assistance in enabling the parents to achieve the above in part or in full will be highly appreciated.
