Background Beitbridge District with a population of about 90 000 people had its first secondary school at the border post of Beitbridge in Dulibadzimu high density suburb which had its first intake in February 1982. It was initially hosted by Dulibadzimu Primary School. It was not until 1984 that a site for the secondary school was identified. The
school has been built through the Government building grant in aid (about
30%) and the rest coming from levying parents. From time to time the responsible
authority supplied labour. The PTA levy is currently $150-00 per pupil per term. Enrolment The school caters for 17 classes of about 45 pupils each.
2 poorly equipped General Science Laboratories The two General Science laboratories are poorly equipped. The school is currently offering Integrated Science. Physical Science and Biology cannot be offered due to lack of appropriate equipment to teach the subjects. Once the appropriate equipment has been acquired the school intends to engage a full time laboratory technician to look after the equipment under the supervision of the head of department. The technician will be paid from the levy paid by the parents. The school will be in a better position to replace any damaged equipment or used up chemicals. It will not be difficult to set aside an odd Z$30 000-00 a year to maintain the equipment. All efforts will be made to make the necessary financial adjustments to maintain the equipment.
Report provided in 1999.
