Whitewater Secondary School was established in 1981 and it is in stage Five of Development. The school enrolment is 318 and all the pupils are children of peasant farmers who depend on "rain" for survival, both for their livestock and food.

A laboratory has been built at the school but is not yet operational. It was expected to start operating from 1998 because the parents had agreed to increase the levy from $15-00 per child per term to $115-00. Aid is also being sought from different sources to supplement the levy so as to ensure the success of the plans. Once the laboratory is complete then the school can introduce proper sciences.
