I would like to recall the magical day I clicked on the Inkundla music schedule and listened to a song by Black Umfolosi which was I believe on the theme of when will war come to an end.

It was one of those revelatory moments for me when I heard the true voice of the Prince of Peace and it was all the more pure and precious to lezi izindlebezikhany'ilanga because it came from home.

It was a voice that carried the pain of memory of colonial repression, the awareness of suffering under alleged black majority misrule and an anguished cry for a better future.

Artists like these are indeed beacons and one hopes they will shine bright in the year ahead.
