God has not forsaken Israel, He is faithfull to his promises. He recreated it miraculously in May 1948. God has seen it through a series of wars agaist several Arab nations.
What l would like to highlight in this first article is the fact that Jews have been allowed to stumble so that Salvation may come to us Gentiles.
Some will say Jews rejected Christ. Remember the early church was mainly Jewish and today we have a lot of messianic Jews or Jews who believe in Jesus (Yeshua). Israel has a special calling. It is called as a nation unlike us gentiles who are called as individuals. So as you pray for the peace of Jerusalem, focus on the salvation of the Jews.
As a gentile you have gained so much because Jews have stumbled. How much more will you gain when they come to realise that Jesus whom they call Yeshua is the Messiah. Remember the glory of Christ in you is also meant to stimulate jelous among Jews who are still 'waiting' for the messiah.

Jesus will not come back again until the Jews say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Matt. 24:35 '..Ye shall not see me, henceforth, till ye say , Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.'

Israel has now been restored physically. God will restore it Spiritually. Be part of this through prayer and recognising the fact that God will always be faithful to his elect nation.

Praying for Israel will in no way hinder your praying for your neighbour or even Zimbabwe. It will help you understand God more deeply and the bible says "You who call on the Lord give yourselves no rest and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth" Isa. 62:6-7. You are called to Pray for the glory of God to reign in Jerusalem.

As you study the situation in the middle east you get to uderstand how God is using Israel as his 'clock'. You get to understand prophesies better and your intepretation of scripture will be better. Your prayers will become more relevant as you pray the will of God for a particular season. So many times we fail in our prayer lives because we are not in touch with God's seasons.

Israel has got its fair share of sins. What about the church? We have sinned also and need God's grace. The most important thing is we all become one under Christ in the Commonwealth of Israel.

Israel has been restored as a nation. It is economically prosperous although it has a population of just over 6m. Our prayer is that there may be a Spiritual restoration upon it.
Israel has risen out of the dry bones of the holocaust as prophesied in Ezekiel 37. " ..I will open your graves and bring you into the land of Israel....And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land..." Ezek 37:12-14. Why God chose Israel a desert land I do not know. I just have to co-operate with his will.

On a slightly selfish note God promises to bless those who pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee." Psalms 122:6 .we pray for peace as the peace that Christ gives. Let the peace of Christ reign upon Jerusalem.
