When Jesus told the parable of the Pharisee and the publican, He said, " The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as his publican (tax collector). I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all I posess" Luke 18:11-12 The reason the Lord Jesus condemned the actions of the Pharisee was because it was done in the flesh, led by pride and tradition

However, the poor publican juss said a simple prayer" Dear Lord, have mercy on me for I am a sinner" and was forgiven. God sees the heart and rewards wat is done in secret and with sincererity. Lets come to his throne with a humble heart.

If God can read the mind and thots of a person, don't you think ukuthi He can as well understand a prayer said silently. Also in life there are situations where you will want/need to pray but find that it is not conducive to do it loudly, eg when you are in public, say ebhasini, or in an examination room, I think God will listen and answer a silent prayer. Though I strongly agree with you that there is power in the spoken word especially where you have to profess your beliefs.

I have un uncle ongena i ZCC. He used to wake up in the middle of the night and start praying VERY LOUD.

The word of God says study the word to shew yourself approved. Lets not manipulate the WORD of God to suit ourselves.
