Highlanders need at least $250 million to take part in the Africa Champions League next year after club members voted for their participation on Sunday.
The figures are based on assumptions that
bosso will play a team from Seychelles, which is probably the furthest point from Zimbabwe in the preliminary round, Tanzanian and Tunisian teams in the first and second round respectively.
There is, however, a possibility of playing a team from neighbouring countries like Zambia, Botswana,
Mozambique and South Africa.
"We had to come up with tentative figures to show the costs involved in taking part in the African Safari so that the supporters can then decide on the way forward with an idea of how much the team needs," club treasurer, Odiel Mandla Nkomo said.
"We deliberately chose countries like Tunisia and Seychelles, which are furthest from us so that our budget is not found wanting in case we are grouped with teams from those regions.
"The expenses cover air fares, paying of the match officials and commissioner in foreign currency, accommodating the visiting team and bonuses for the players and technical team. They are also other costs like visa fees and paying the head of delegation that all require foreign currency which we calculated using central bank rates."
Highlanders are expecting to cash in on the sale of their prized striker Ralph Matema to Orlando Pirates.
Nkomo revealed the league champions had budgeted $30 million in their transfer kitty as they seek to strengthen their squad in order to withstand the rigours of the African Champions League.
Coach Methembe Ndlovu has submitted a list of players that he wants the club to buy at the end of the season.
Club sources say Hwange midfielder Carrington Gomba and Motor Action star player Clemence Matawu, Tapela Ngwenya of Lancashire Steel, Shabanie Mine's lanky linkman Shadreck Malunga and Ricky Sibiya of Chapungu could move to Bulawayo.
