Woman appeals for assistance

A Bulawayo woman, Ms Emily Tshuma (34) (above), a cancer patient, is appealing for assistance to enable her to get specialist treatment in Harare.
Ms Tshuma, of House Number Z14, Mzilikazi has developed a big wound on the upper side of her neck, near the jaw.
In an interview yesterday she said the wound has been giving her problems since April last year.
She said she needed money to buy food, soap and pay transport to travel to Harare for her to receive specialist treatment at Parirenyatwa Hospital.
Her condition, she added, was being made worse because she was HIV positive.
“It started as a pimple in April last year and by September, it had grown so big that it was giving me problems. In November my condition further deteriorated,” she said.
“I went to Mpilo and saw a doctor who told me that it was cancer. However, I was not given any treatment. The doctors conducted a biopsy, but the stitches were coming off and the wound grew bigger. The wound is always dripping puss. I struggle to eat and sleep because of the pain.”
Ms Tshuma said she was unemployed and could not raise money to travel to Harare or buy enough food.
“I started taking anti-retroviral drugs two weeks ago but because I do not have proper food my condition is getting worse,” she added.
